June 2010 - Zpey Competition Fly Casting Lines - Information and Cutting advice

We have now used the Zpey Competition Fly Lines for some weeks and we are extremely satisfied with the results. We have measured several of them, casted them full length and, of course, experimented with different ways of adjusting (cutting) the lines to fit different rods, different conditions, different casting styles and different casting events. Here are the results and facts from countless hours of discussion, casting, cutting, more casting and so on:

June 2010 - Advice on how to adjust (cut) your Zpey Fusion EXTENDED shooting head

The Zpey Fusion EXTENDED shooting heads are not made for use with poly leaders and they are not equipped with premade loops. These lines can be adjusted (cut) and here are some general advice on how to do just that.

June 2010 - Zpey Fusion EXTENDED shooting heads

The Zpey Fusion Extended shooting head concept is a wonderful alternative for double handed fly fishers that have "graduated" from the freshman level. Extended shooting heads cast beautifully, turn over leaders effectively and they sink like they are supposed to sink.

June 2010 - Zpey Fusion heads — the first triple density system in the history of fly fishing!

For the 2009 season, Zpey System was the first company ever to present a shooting head system with three densities in the same shooting-head. This system, Zpey Fusion, makes it easier for the flyfishermen to cast and reach the necessary depth. The section with the lowest density is at the rear end of the shooting head, it will be higher in the water than the rest of the line and will make it easier to lift when you are ready for a new cast. It makes fishing a sinking line playful. All Fusion shooting heads and poly leaders are delivered with the amazingly small, light and flexible pre-made loops for which Zpey is known.

May 2010 - Zpey Connections

We have all been there. We've bought braided loops, inserted the tips of our shooting heads into the rear end of these loops, tied the leader in the other end and used a lot of instant glue to make sure everything holds together if and when the big one takes the fly.

May 2010 - Zpey Fusion Shooting Heads

Three different categories for 2010

The 2009 introduction of the Zpey Fusion Shooting Heads for double handed fly fishing has been a huge success. Medium length shooting heads tapered for nice presentations and long casts, the smallest and lightest loops that has ever been made, up to three different densities in the same lines (each density has its own colour), every line is designed to fit one of our rods and there is even at set of poly leaders for the different lines, making it easier to find the right depth for your flies. This fantastic system has made fly fishing for salmon, sea trout and steelhead a lot easier.

April 2010 - Four fantastic Combo Kits from Zpey

We could have taken the easy way out; using cheap materials, accepted compromises and made a combo kit the way many others have done, but that’s just not acceptable for us. We use very high quality carbon in our rods and we use the time it takes to design the actions we want. The reels are designed around the “Z” in Zpey and are both elegant and effective. The brake system is reliable and sturdy.

February 2010 - Knut Ekelund - Fly Line Wizard and Zpey Team Member

The last year and a half, the Zpey Team has been honoured by the presence of a new member. Fly fisher, fly caster

with us at the end of 2008.

February 2010 - NEW! A whole range of Competition Fly Casting Rods from Zpey

The actions of the different Zpey fly rods have always intrigued fly fishers all over the world. Deep, powerful, smooth
and with relatively tough tips and short stroke lengths. Actions made for fly fishing, but also performing in different
kinds of competitive fly casting; to a certain level, that is. Performing to a certain level was not good enough for
Zpey, of course, so we decided to design a full range of Competition Fly Rods and to present them to the market in 2010.

February 2010 - Fantastic NEW Competition fly lines from Zpey System

The test period is over and the new fantastic Competition fly lines from Zpey System are  under production.
This project has been going on for more than a year and the objective was simply to make the best competition fly lines ever.
Our Product Developing Manager, Henrik Mortensen, put me in charge of everything and I immediately called my friend and Zpey Team colleague, Knut Ekelund. Knut might be one of the greatest fly line nerds on this planet (and utterly positive description, of course) and with additional help from another nerdy friend, Geir Hansen, the three of us got to work.
